This is a very unusual Victorian Sampson Mordan and Co gilded silver gilt mounted combination vinaigrette scent bottle, hallmarked for London 1880.
The silver gilt mounts are decorated with incised spiralling scrolling foliate decoration covering the faceted glas reservoir.
The top of the scent bottle part is operated by a small push button which opens to reveal the glass stopper. The hinge is in perfect working order.
The vinaigrette has a pierced scrolling foliate design and is clearly stamped ‘Sampson Mordan and Co makers’ with marks clear for SM and the year date and lion passant.
