This is a unique silver and enamel dish with a portrait of Lillie Langtry, hallmarked for London 1920.
The dish is of circular form with an inner and outer rope twist border, the silver being gently hand hammered. The dish stands upon four small ball feet.
The hand painted enamel is of extremely high quality and is a portrait of Lillie Langtry*, the famous actress and socialite.
The dish is boxed in its original leather case and the bottom of the dish is engraved ‘Omar Ramsden me fecit’.
*Lillie Langtry 1853 – 1929, starred in many plays and eventually ran her own production company. She was also known as a great beauty and had relationships with noblemen including The Prince of Wales, the Earl of Shrewsbury and Prince Louis of Battenburg.
