This is a very rare Austrian silver novelty combination vesta case made by George Adam Scheid in Vienna circa 1910.
This is a superb and rare novelty vesta case, rectangular in shape with straight sides and rounded corners.
The lid of the box has a crest with a crown above a rampant lion to the top left hand corner. It has a turning cog to the front and a thumb piece.
The front of the box has a striker and the left hand side has a hole for the wick.
The right hand side has a knob which slides open to reveal a hidden cutting instrument. There is also a cutter on the underside.
The inside of the case is gilded and has a front compartment for the wick.
