A fabulous silver seal top spoon by Robert Edgar Stone, hallmarked Edinburgh 1977.
The spoon is gently hand hammered and of very fine quality and was made by top silversmith Robert Edgar Stone. It commemorates the Queen’s silver jubilee.
R.E.Stone (1903 – 1990) – He trained at London’s Central School of Arts and Crafts and went on to undertake a travelling scholarship with the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths. Stone then set up his own workshop and took on apprentices, his workshop closing for the duration of the war. He continued to produce hand made silver in his workshop at 20 Garrick St until 1964, after which he operated from a home workshop on the West Coast of Scotland until 1980.
