Victorian 9ct Gold Blue Enamel, Pearl, and Coral Locket
This is a beautifully preserved antique Victorian oval-shaped locket, crafted in the 1880s. Made with 9ct yellow gold back and front, the locket’s inner frames and hinges are reinforced with metal for added strength, while the front and back are solid 9ct gold.
The pendant features a vibrant sky-blue enamel background, adorned with a central star-shaped motif set with a coral cabochon. The combination of the coral center and surrounding sky-blue enamel creates a striking contrast of colors. Surrounding the central star are six smaller star-like motifs, each set with a delicate pearl.
Intricate engraved patterns border the outer edge of the locket, and the back is also beautifully engraved, with an empty center space perfect for personalized engraving.
The style of this locket, with its use of vibrant enamel, coral, and pearls, reflects the mid to late Victorian era (circa 1860-1900). This period was known for intricate designs and colorful materials inspired by natural forms and celestial motifs.
The locket opens to hold two photos or mementos like hair. The original frames and lenses are still present, currently housing two old pictures of a woman and a man, which can be replaced with your own images.
