Antique (c. 1900s) Gold-Filled Book Chain Necklace with a Pearl Heart Locket

250,00€Price
  • This one-of-a-kind, well-preserved gold-filled/rolled gold necklace dates back to the late 19th century or early 20th century.

Attached to the chain is a heart-shaped locket, which I later added to complement the piece. The locket features a beautifully detailed Faith, Hope & Charity design accented with a single pearl. Though small, this locket carries profound sentimental meaning: the Cross, Anchor, and Heart represent Faith, Hope, and Charity (or Love). These three theological virtues were frequently depicted in jewelry during the late 18th and 19th centuries, with the Cross-Anchor-Heart triad gaining popularity in the 1830s and remaining beloved by jewelers for decades.

The locket is removable, allowing you to replace it with another pendant or enjoy the chain on its own. The chain’s delicate beauty makes it versatile enough to be worn without additional adornments. It closes securely with a barrel clasp.

Please note that the locket and chain have slightly different tones—the locket has a warmer, more rose gold hue, while the chain features a soft, pale yellow gold tone. Together, they form a sweet and sentimental piece full of history and charm.
