Antique Art Nouveau Jugendstil Oval Shaped Pendant
This is an antique Art Nouveau gold-filled oval-shaped locket with a smooth, matte finish, likely dating from the early 1900s and reflecting the Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) movement.
Adorned with engraved fluid lines and curves at the top, this pendant resembles natural forms. The lower part features small, bezel-set, faceted stones, likely garnets and/or rubies. One of the original stones was missing but has since been replaced with a ruby by a skilled goldsmith in the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
The emphasis on natural forms, elegant curves, and minimalist decoration are all characteristic of Jugendstil jewelry.
